Although playing Gameboy on the floor is going to get you puppy kisses.

Yeah, I suck. I’m off to the beach again for a week. One of the few perks of having divorced parents is that we get a week at the beach with Mom and a week at the beach with Dad. This time we’re taking the Bisc, who will be extra work for me, but extra fun for all (see above). As usual, I’ll check in when I can, and Ash will be around for your titillation.

In other news, I’m pursuing some different freelance gigs, as I’m about to be a Mom whose youngest kid is in Kindergarten. Hurrah! Anyway, I’m in “discussions” with someone about writing a paid weekly on-line parenting column. Not much pay, but more than I’m making writing for you, my lovelies. It’s a fairly alternative site, connected to a weekly newspaper, and I think the exposure could be good. Plus, I’d be forced to write something decent more often than I do now, which I’m sure you’d all appreciate. I’d continue with my weekly business profiles and other freelance writing and photography. Thus, I’d really have to schedule my “free” time wisely in order to get it all done.

So, what do y’all think? Should I go for it, or save myself for, for, for ???

Yeah, I’ve been ignoring you. I haven’t written. I haven’t read your bloggies. I’ve been working and entertaining my kidlings and trying to exercise more regularly and training the Bisc.

Oh, and I’m not eating any refined sugars or grains or red meat. Yep, three days with no afternoon Coke to pick me up, no sugar in my coffee, no dark chocolate after din-din. And, amazingly, I’m okay. Although I did start fantasizing about the Mexican bakery that I’ve visited once in the past two years as I was driving down Patton Avenue today. I also made the mistake of buying my kids the all-natural and incredibly delicious Late July brand of DARK chocolate oreos. They’re actually made with unrefined cane sugar and whole wheat flour, so in theory, I could eat one, but it would seem to defeat the purpose.

Why, you ask, am I’m denying myself some of the best foods in life? Well, the answers are easy: weight and health. Which are one and the same really. I’m slowly trying to make some lifestyle changes that will keep me healthier AND help me stave off middle-age spread. I’m going the anti-inflammatory diet route, because, well, aging is inflammation, and I already have more than my fair share of joint pain. So, I’m upping Omega 3s and 9s, going for lean, white protein sources, and trying to eat more veggies. Without melted cheese on top.

Have any of you tried this diet? I think it was hawt a few years back when Dr. Perricone wrote a diet book. I think then the idea was to eat salmon like five times a week. Balancing the poison in fish with the health benefits was less of a concern then. Now preggers chicks can’t even eat fish. I’ve always felt that if there is something you shouldn’t eat when pregnant, you shouldn’t eat it when not pregnant. Obviously, alcohol is my exception.

to new Blogger, which is kind of exciting. But difficult too. Original Blogger and I have two years of commitment, joy, fights, frustration, and passion together. Two years counts as a long-term relationship for me. I’ve only lasted that long with one other. I knew the change was coming, but that doesn’t make it less painful.

Wish me luck. Any words of wisdom from those of you who’ve been living with him for a while?
