This week, I wrote my column about what’s happening to the families of a religious sect in Texas. Scary stuff, on a bunch of different levels.

I wonder why DSS didn’t ask the men to leave. DSS threatens that all the time here. They told my neighbors that either “the dad moves out fo the house or we take all the kids and put them in foster care.” Dad moved out. That would have been less tramatic for the FLDS kids and much cheaper for the state (we don’t have to support the Dads). I feel the same way about this situation. It was terribly mishandled by the state and no one is willing to step up and tell CPS they CAN’T do this. We should all take this to mean that none of our children are safe from government intervention.
