Yeah, you jinxed it with the sleeping boy.
My 2 year old took a three night hiatus recently. Aside from those three nights he has spent virtually every night since mid-December in my bed, robbing my precious pillow space and pillow time.
(local realities forbid me doing the right thing and drop kicking him back to his bed each night — peace right now is more important than good training. Ferber be damned).
Turned out that those three nights were the calm before the storm. When he returned to my bed, he added a feral new trick: Roll On Top Of Daddy All Night Long (ROTODANL).
This has generated the predictable result: Daddy Is A Grumpy Rumpled Adult Malcontent (DIAGRAM).
Cheers, and make room for baby tonight.

You’re right, JA. I jinxed it. But he wasn’t in my beddie this morning until 5:00.
My trick is to let him sleep with E-spouse and I go get in HIS bed. That way I get to sleep, blissfully, alone, and minimize MIAGRAM!
The best advice I ever got when we were expecting a child was to make sure that any bed you bought your child was big enough for you.

We’ve got a cam on a redtail hawk in Portland. Amazing how well they (like Pale Male in NY) fit in.
